Each month our Good Stewards receive a copy of “Boot Prints;” an internal company newsletter. In every issue, one employee is spotlighted. Our spotlighted employee for the month of September is Elise Daniels! Elise is a Communications Associate and works from her home in Wisconsin. She has been with Good Steward Consulting full-time since June of 2023. Learn more about her below!
Q: What does being a Good Steward mean to you?
A: “Being a Good Steward means working toward a healthier environment for all people. As renewable energy is supposed to contribute positives to the entire planet, we strive to ensure the people who will live closest to these projects will also enjoy a healthy environment at home.”
Q: What's one thing people don't know about you that they would be surprised to find out?
A: “In my free time, I love to paint. I took art classes in high school and 2 in college, and absolutely loved painting as a creative outlet. This year, I finished the biggest painting I’ve ever done which is a combo of the rainbow mountains and black sand beaches in Iceland.”
Q: What is the most interesting project you've worked on here?
A: “I would be lying if I didn’t say [a solar project] in southern Mississippi. This was the first project I worked on with Rachel and started travelling for GSC. We had a lot of great experiences working with Tammy, the local representative, and the community which was very different than midwestern rural communities we’re used to. The project didn’t end up moving forward but we learned a lot of valuable lessons about how to handle new challenges that come up and made a great friend along the way, Tammy 😊”
Q: What do you think makes our team culture unique?
A: “I think it’s really cool that everyone at our company is truly passionate about the work we do and are motivated beyond just getting the job done. Working for a small company like ours is great because you can reach out to anyone and know they’ll jump in an instant to help you out or just chat for a bit.”
Q: What do you enjoy most about working here?
A: “I absolutely love my team, the projects I work on, and traveling, and lately I’ve had such a fun time working with our local reps. Each one has such a unique experience to bring to the table on our local rep calls that I’m constantly learning more about the industry or new perspectives I wouldn’t have thought of before. They’re always super excited about how they can help their community and are a blast to work with.”
Q: What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading?
A: “Lately, I’ve been switching from some of my favorite light-hearted comedy sit-com TV shows like the Office, How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, New Girl, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I try not to let myself get hooked on drama shows because I know I’ll spend way too much binging them, like how I got through the entire Game of Thrones show in less than 2 months last winter…”
Q: What’s one thing on your bucket list?
A: “Someday I want to be fully fluent in another language. I took Spanish in high-school and spoke a little bit when I studied abroad in Costa Rica, but I can’t really have a full conversation with someone in Spanish without translating grammar in my head LOL. I’ve been listening to podcasts and using Duo Lingo here and there, so maybe one day I’ll get this!”
