2024 was a big year for Good Steward Consulting, capped off by reaching the milestone of 20 GW of power in our portfolio a whopping six years early! To celebrate we asked some of our team members to write their own reflections on the growth they've seen as a Good Steward.
Tiffany joined Good Steward Consulting in 2021 as an Executive Admin and currently works with the Creatives Team as a Marketing Specialist. She collaborates across departments on both GSC and project-related digital assets, social media communication, and website development as well as being the company liaison to the Rotary Club of Albert Lea where she currently serves as President.
Moving my entire homestead 140 miles away to a brand-new town during the global pandemic in 2020 was a daunting task for me and my family. Starting to actually feel at home as a transplant seemed more difficult still once the boxes were unpacked and the animals were all settled in. When I applied for a position at Good Steward Consulting, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it quickly became obvious that this team’s mission of serving rural communities and honoring rural values while facilitating new opportunities for economic growth was more than just what they do. It’s who they are!

In my first several months I tried to learn everything I could from Mariah and the small, tight-knit team she had built. I not only learned about renewable energy development, but about the history, nuances, and personality of this southern Minnesota community. I remember Mariah saying that she wanted to foster rural economic prosperity and create more local job opportunities so that her kids would be able to stay close to home when they became adults. That desire resonated with me, and I’ve seen it resonate with so many other rural residents throughout GSC’s project areas over the last several years. That was a dream and a vision I could enthusiastically get on board with.

Not only did I love the work, but I started to feel at home amongst that small group of coworkers. The work-hard, play-hard mentality pushed our team to consistently deliver excellent service with G.R.A.C.E. and have a blast while doing it. I wasn’t the newbie at the office for long. The rapid growth trajectory of new projects, new communities, new clients, and an ever-expanding staff roster to carry the load has been a wonder to see and an honor to be a part of. Mariah truly cares about the health of our company culture and the health of our local community, and that passion carries over into GSC’s commitment to other rural families and communities in the project areas we work in. This genuine commitment echoes in the hearts of every employee and new hire.

Good Steward Consulting’s 20 GW milestone isn’t just about electricity and power. It is about dozens of communities being changed for the better. It’s about hundreds of rural farms secured for future generations. It is about rural schools, emergency services, and infrastructure bolstered by additional tax revenue as we invest in small towns just like ours. And ultimately, it's about thousands of people just like me who are working hard to invest in their rural homes and neighborhoods for a prosperous tomorrow. I feel lucky to call Good Steward Consulting and Freeborn County home, and proud to be a part of a company whose purpose is to invest just as passionately in the home communities of other rural residents across the nation as we do here in our own.
